Dover Middle School: Title I Targeted School
What is the Purpose of Title I?
The purpose of Title I is, “to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
Title I in Dover Schools
The Dover School district has two schools that qualify for Title 1 funding: Woodman Park School qualifies as a whole Title 1 school, meaning all students are eligible to receive support services, and Dover Middle School qualifies as a targeted Title 1 school, meaning individual students qualify to receive support services. We also manage all aspects of the Title I grant for qualifying students at St. Mary’s Academy.
Where Does Title I Funding Go?
Title I funding can only be used for our Title I students, staff, and families but it allows us to do all kinds of great things to advance student learning! We are able to hire Title I staff, purchase instructional materials, and host fantastic family engagement events at these schools.
