5th Grade 24-25 Orientation and Information

Dear 5th Grade DMS Families,

We are so excited to offer an in-person orientation for our 5th grade students! This email provides information on the orientation and the start of school.

5th Grade Orientation- Thursday August 29 8:30-10:30. Students may walk, be dropped off, or ride the bus for this event. Bus routes, with stops and times, are attached. The route pickup times will be 1 hour after what is listed for the orientation day only.  If you have any questions about bussing, please call First Student at 603-692-4406 ext. 2. Family vehicles can pull into the front parking lot and proceed to our drop off area. The drop off area is the only location that students should exit vehicles for safety purposes. There will be staff outside to assist vehicles and students.

5th graders should arrive with a pencil, water bottle, and snack in their backpack. Nothing else is needed for this event. Please see the attachments for more information regarding 5th grade. You will find a parent/guardian pamphlet and information for students on calming jitters.

The event ends at 10:30. Please communicate with your student how they will get home (bus, vehicle pickup or walk). At 10:30, bus students will be walked by staff to our bus area, and we will make sure students get on the correct bus. Walkers will be allowed to exit the building and walk home on their own. We do not have a pickup loop. For those that are picking up in vehicles, please park or wait in our parking lot. Students are expected to find you. Staff will support students with this during the first few days or until a routine is established. Just a reminder that the orientation day is a practice day of routines for our 5th graders. The number of vehicles and people will increase on the first day of school when all our students grade 5-8 begin on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Thank you,
