Have you ever heard of Bookshare?  It is a service for anyone who needs books in another form....audio, braille, etc.  Students with a disability that makes reading difficult in the traditional sense are eligible for Bookshare for free.  Below tis the website's description.  Contact me if you would like me to sign your child up, or if you have questions!

Bookshare.org  .....

Bookshare® opens up the world of reading for people with print disabilities.

If you cannot read traditional print books because of a visual impairment, physical disability or severe learning disability, Bookshare can help!

Our books are “accessible,” which means you can read our books many different ways.

Bookshare offers the world’s largest collection of accessible titles. As a result, people of all ages, as well as schools and many organizations around the globe can access the books they need for school, work, career advancment, skill development and the simple love of reading in formats that work for them.

How can you read Bookshare books?
  • Listen to books with high quality text-to-speech voices
  • Hear and see highlighted words on screen
  • Read with digital braille or enlarged fonts
  • Create physical braille or large print
  • Read directly from your Internet browser
  • And more!

All 8th grade classes are working on a Growth Mind Set philosophy, instilling problem solving and cooperation/collaboration into our students.  We are looking for these behaviors from our students during class time:
*Leaning in and working in the middle of the table
*Equal air time
*Sticking together
*Listening to each other
*Asking each other lots of questions.

Ask your child how it's going.  See if he/she can show some of these behaviors at the dinner table!

Bookshare is a service that provides audio versions of many books, including textbooks. I can sign your child up for Bookshare if you think this would be helpful, and load the textbooks/novels he or she would be using for school.  Email me if this is something you might be interested in!

Looking forward to working with you all!

September 1, 2016  Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit!
Good morning all!
Welcome to the second day of school!  I had a great first day and met some wonderful students.
If you or your child has an IEP and that student is on my caseload, I will be meeting with them within the next week to discuss my role and the services we have outlined for them for this year.  In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, please call me at 516-7223, email me at c.calandriello@dover.k12.nh or come on up to Room 310 (Leave me a note as I am often out and about!)
Looking forward to a great school year!
